Well!! This blog has been built for quite some time and I had not mention about
my hobbies !!
I like many stuffs.
But only 3 are and will be my life time hobbies - plastic models, model guns, watches.
The sequence represents the time frame of my keepijg this hobbies.
I like to talk about the latest hobby - watches!!!
Like watches was never came to my mind before I saw my brother-in-law wore a
Brietling watch ( I forgot already the model !!) some 8 years back!!
I was attracted by the design and quality of the watch, then I started to look
into magazines for "good looking" watches.
At the beginning, I only like to enjoy looking the watch ads on the magazines!!
Then one day, I saw a Breguet Type XX on a watch magazine.
And a friend of mine happened to go to Dubai for business trip.
So I asked him to bought one for me when he is in Dubai.
Do you know how much he quoted me, when he found the watch at local jewelery store ?
About NT$120,000/pc.....
My God!!! How expensive the watch is; I told myself when I heard that price.
Of course, I did not buy that Breguet, because it was TOO expensive to me when 8 years ago;
and I was not that crazy about watches then.
But, this is the beginning of my falling to the un-savable dungeon of watches !!!!
After then, I started my research on the internet about watches, about how the watches
are made, about the parts of the watches, and brands of the famous Swiss watches other
than Rolex.....
I searched the internet BBS forum, I asked some stupid questions.
Then I was really attracted by the complication of the mechnical parts, the beauty
and elegance of the designs!!
Then I start to buy watches.........
The first EXPENSIVE watch that I bought was on my birthday!!
I bought an Omega Seamaster GMT 300M for myself !!
It's a steel bracelet type, with Cal. 1128(modified from ETA 2892A2), 300m WR,
turnable bezel with 24hr time.
Why I bought this watch? Becasue I need to travel to different time zone countries then.
So, a GMT function is good enough to check the time at home.
Another reason is that, when I first looked at this watch, I could not remove my eyes from it.
It was too beautiful!!!!
Of course, there are world time watch with many cities in the market, but I don't like the bezel,
which is too complicated to read!!!
This Omega is still my most favorite watch, and I will passed it down to my son!
After this watch, I crazyly spent average NT$100,000~NT$150,000/month to buy watches
from the store, e-bay, watch shops on the internet...
Many watches were bought during the first 3 years, after the Omega!!
Boy!! Was I crazy then !!
Many watches that I bought was sold, some were sold just becasue don't like it anymore;
some were sold just to raise fund for next watch, etc.....
Now, I am no longer that excited to buy watches. I am more likely to enjoy reading the
articles of a good watch on the internet, or magazines; to enjoy watching the beautiful
pictures of the watches.
After all, 50 watches that I own now(including Casio/Quartz) are quite a lot to take care of!
Among my watches, many are BRANDED & EXPENSIVE watches, which were bought
at the first 3 years; when I was crazy about BRANDED watches; but many are
Seiko vintage watches.
Why I collect Seiko watches ? That's another story to tell!!
P.S.: I never own the Breguet Type XX!!!
